Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDa)

Scientists think that cannabidiol stimulates the endocannabinoid system by increasing the levels of anandamide in the body, so far studies suggest that CBDa doesn’t interact with the endocannabinoid system, but it may affect, instead, other non-endocannabinoid receptors and enzymes.

When we say cannabidiol and cannabidiolic acid are close relatives, it is because the second actually is the precursor to the first. So how does it become cannabidiol? That transition occurs when CBDa is decarboxylated either through combustion, heating up through cooking, or via vaporization.

The removal of the carboxyl group is what gives us the more famous cannabinoids. However, retaining that carboxyl group does not seem to negatively affect the compound’s health benefits.
